What are Incoterms?

Incoterms are three-letter trade terms published by the International Chamber of Commerce that fix where cost and risk pass between seller and buyer — EXW, FCA, CPT, DAP, DDP and the rest. For a forwarder, the stated Incoterm decides who your customer actually is on each leg and what the quote must include.

In freight operations

A quote that ignores the Incoterm answers the wrong question: DAP and EXW on the same lane are different jobs with different costs.

Commercial invoices in customs packets state the Incoterm; extraction should carry it through rather than drop it.
